How AXA GBS Helped AXA Switzerland Realize Their Vision for Next-Gen Testing Practices

To support this vision, AXA Switzerland partnered with AXA Global Business Services for a comprehensive maturity assessment of their testing landscape. The goal was to identify opportunities improvement and strategic growth, define a clear pathway to industry-leading maturity, and set the foundation for future innovation.

Gaining Insights and Setting Ambitious Goals

Walking in our Partner’s shoes, AXA GBS got to work with a detailed span of assessing 42 applications – across 5 dimensions and 27 key areas. Armed with 250+ assessment questions, the team interviewed more than 100 stakeholders and reviewed over 175 artifacts. This collaborative effort provided valuable insights into AXA Switzerland’s current testing practices and revealed exciting opportunities to evolve.

AXA GBS prepared a detailed as-is report for AXA Switzerland to establish a clear understanding of their current testing capabilities, thereby supporting their strategic efforts to enhance testing through increased automation, standardization, and proactive management. Key recommendations included:

  • Building upon their strong foundation, advancing toward further standardization and automation of testing processes.
  • Enhancing test environment consistency and availability to support seamless deployment.
  • Expanding automation coverage, particularly for regression and performance testing, to increase efficiency and reliability.
  • Implementing real-time metrics and dashboards to enable even better oversight and data-driven decision-making.
  • Establishing a centralized Testing Center of Excellence to unify and elevate practices across teams.

This proactive approach aims to accelerate delivery, improve efficiency, and support application resilience, aligning with their strategic growth objectives.

Value Addition from AXA GBS

Building on these insights, AXA GBS outlined a phased plan to elevate AXA Switzerland’s testing capabilities:

  • Securing executive support, establishing initial dashboards, and defining standardized policies.
  • Strengthening foundations with a centralized testing hub, expanding automation efforts aiming for 80% coverage, and developing skillsets.
  • Scaling automation, embedding shift-left testing practices early in development, and pursuing ongoing innovation.

The overarching goal is to transition into a proactive, automated, and data-driven testing ecosystem – delivering faster, more reliable applications and empowering business agility.
